York or Leeds?

Any opinions on these for a long weekend?
Just wandering around, eating and drinking for a couple.
We usually go to London but thought of a change.

Stay in York but go to Leeds it's only 25 miles away.

Stay in Leeds (wider choice of bars and restaurants) and go to York.

Use booking.com and stay in the cheapest city and travel to the more expensive city.

If you like your real ales, try lunch at Friends of Ham in Leeds while you're there

Depends on your age. Leeds has a better nightlife but York is a nicer city.

Depends what you want to do in the evenings.

Leeds is better to stay, York to visit the historical sites. If you don't care about history, then just stay in Leeds :)
