What cards can you get with CCJ?

Options
Ive heard some mysterious stories where people have 'got lucky' and been accepted for cards they never assumed with bad credit, but i have a ccj which is nearly 5 years old for £930, all satisfied bit terrible as its only a like a week past a month. All to blame on my unknowledged younger years, we live and learn. However past 2 years my credit has been managed ok, not great but have 2 credit cards which i use well. I want to get some actual cards with low rates or even one day an amex. What are others experiences in regards to credit cards and ccjs, what have you been accepted for, what may i be accepted for? Shall i just hold back another year or so?

Thanks and share your experiences :)

The last question of "Shall I just hold back another year or so" makes me think that it's not imperative you get a credit card right now - if that's the case then yes absolutely wait :) It'll give you better options with better APR (most likely.)

If you need it now, then a card like aqua are your best best.

    1. Have a read through the MSE guide to cards for those with credit issues at http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/credit-cards/bad-credit-credit-cards
    2. Check your credit files to see if everything recorded there is accurate: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/loans/credit-rating-credit-score
    3. Use the MSE eligibility calculator to assess your chances: https://creditcards.moneysavingexpert.com/?bad-credit

presumably, if you want cards with lower APRs then you plan on getting into debt : not a good idea.
  • Steer clear of credit cards at all costs! If the credit is satisfied then it will mean you are more likely to get credit, however it can be a slippery slope with credit cards.

I feel like the comments show the impression i dont have credit cards, i have a barclaycard and a capital one card, i dont need more dont get me wrong, both have limits of 1k not great but enough for my general use, i have a great job where i earn 40k+ so im not in any urge or need of credit, just would rather have cards that give something back in terms of rewards and incentive, hence why i highlighted ideally an amex.

Have you read this thread? You might want to think again about Amex.
