When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important

Sorry about the thread clash PF. I have wondered before about making this thread a monthly at least like on the challenges board. It would possibly make it easier for people to find information too if you miss a day here and there.
So today.
Sent OH off with the cash from our ebay sale - enough to pay the business rates for a month
Checked my ebay items - have watchers on 2 items
OH took a packed lunch
Will put the washing out on the line in a bit
Electricity/Gas only £55 this month. Really pleased with that.
Try and find 1 hour for work at some point today. Now have 2 events to consider all the angles on.
Find something free/cheap to entertain DS today. May take the train into town and have a wander. Havent done that yet these holidays.
Anyway Im sure there is more but will add later.

Morning everyone,
Another NSD yesterday however today won’t be so I’ll spend wisely.
My list is as follows;
- Check banks and YNAB
- Check free post code lottery
- Bring breakie and lunch shakes into work
- Only buy what’s needed and at the cheapest price
- Exercise
- Drink plenty of water (not buying anymore coffee work since I’m leaving soon)
- Charge my phone at work
- Use WIFI at work to update apps on my phone and download podcasts
Have a nice day everyone0 -
Had a meeting with work yesterday in a town with an ALD*s. So £136 later my fridge is heaving with healthy stuff. This means I do not need to go out until mid week next week.
I am drinking lots of water and using lots of electricity cheap rate.
No exercise, I might try this for september, need planning time, do not want to be rash!0 -
Good morning all
I've been up and about and spending already today.I feel truly ashamed about this...
I had promised ds that I would get him a John Cena toy if he made his bedroom spotless, thinking he would never do it. Well - he worked really hard for about 4 hours last night - so he woke me up at 8.15 this morning to take him out to get his toy.
I had a rubbish sleep last night, plus it's raining outside so I think today will be very quiet indeed...check banking and PAD
nap - no maybe today - I was awake 4x in total of my 7 hours of sleep.
take the kids pokemon hunting if the weather clears up
crochet - I'm hoping to finish my big blanket today
no further spends today
flea and worm the cats - this is a bit of a frog for me to be honest
try and remain calm
just the very basics with housework
Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Evening all
Thanks for the start Bob, I am fine with the idea of a monthly thread if that is what others want - it might get a bit unwieldy though, looking at how big some of the BH weekend threads are
Out again this morning, but back in time for lunchOnly bought some bread, loo paper and a few business bits
Picked lots of tomatoes
Watered French beansand picked some of those too!
Entertained little GD this afternoon
Evening meal (and other meals, come to think of it!) from stores, including our own home grown veg
Investigated pet insurance, as the renewal has arrived and it is very expensive... do I even need it? The premium is equivalent to quite a hefty vets bill, and if the dog was ill /injured I bet they would try to get out of paying out anyway, and I would just find the money. I have never insured pets before, they have always had any treatment needed, and I have managed ok .... anyone have any thoughts? This is for a small one year old dog who has no health problems, has his regular jabs, worming etc. I will ring them tomorrow anyway and ask if they can do any better, as the comparison sites came up with much better quotes. Actually, I think I will just dump it!!!!
Did a bit of paperwork for business
Posted an ebay sale using a free RM surveys stamp (small jewellery item which went in a jiffy bag)
Started a shopping list - Waitrose have given me a £6 off a £30 shop voucher, which I will use once the list is big enough - some way to go yet!
Better go and pick up GD's toys from the garden before naughty pup chews them!0 -
A weekly thread like flylady might be better then if monthly too enormo.
Dawn I am pro pet insurance having had a very young cat suddenly become extreemly ill with a liver condition. The vets bill was around £500. Fortunately I'd been paying an £8 premium for the few months we'd owned him so all was well.
It is a topic that came up recently on 'Right on the Money' whether you are better putting money away monthly to cover a possible pet bill. Mixed opinions." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

As Lego Mum says it can be good to start fresh each day. But I think I would opt for a weekly thread at least that way I might manage to post on each thread
Some thing I have thought about previously is would it be useful to post a link to the latest thread at the end of the previous thread? This could help people follow more easily. What do other people think? Is there a reason we don't do it?
Went to the market for f & v followed by Aldi for the rest of the shop including some f & v which was cheaper. I'd meal planned and made a list before setting out. I also renewed all our library loans. All the usual FPL, Ashleigh, RM survey. This afternoon we went to a local fun day. All food and drink today has been from stores.
