Morning all, it is surprisingly cold. But that could simply be contrast.
I think k I am starting to feel a bit better, still coughing but not as badly. I think my toe is bruised as swollen, not broken, I can move it a little bit.
Hester, This sounds as though you will have a horrible time. I know you probably feel very sorry for this man, or feel sorry at one remove, and yes, it is a dreadful situation but still! Clearly you are a far nicer person than me.
I may go and have a steamy bath and then go back to bed for a bit. I need to clean the kitchen and bathroom but it might have to wait.
Flutter by must have had her baby now so perhaps we will have good news soon.
Sending positive thoughts for those that would like them.

    Morning everyone

HH - I know this sounds awful - but if your house guest goes to the council for assistance with his homeless situation, if he tells them you are able to help him out - they won't help him. He needs to attend the Council office with his belongings packed in a bag, stating "he is presentting himself as homeless". The Councils have a duty to provide a team that deals with homelessness ie, if the area becomes flooded/fires etc, but also where people become homeless through no fault of their own or unfairly evicted etc. They have access to temporary emergency accommodation beds. But you have to fit the criteria that every individual council has - it's possible that he won't be a "priority need" case and therefore they are unable to help, if that happens you could get stuck with him - that's my worry for you. Also if he is told they could help but he needs to stay where he is, (ie, your's supposedly temporarily) then he tells them he's going to leave, they could not help at all, as they class this as "intentionally making himself homeless.

    HTH

    Keep safe and well x

H/H I too am worried that things might get too much for you, you are a kind person and I can see how you may get inveigled into something it would be dificult to get out of.Sad as it is for the chap he really must do something to help himself A short term few days is OK but especially as he is a bit obnoxious you don't need extra stress in your life.Put it to him very firmly that it is ONLY a short tiding over help, as you and your OH will be moving and he is not moving with you. Stand firm and if he's not happy then its up to him to find something else.

Today is a busy one and the boys are so excited and really looking forward to our holiday tomorrow ,the forecast looks good for the next week, so fingers crossed.Tonight we all have a fish and chip supper as we do every year, partof the holiday tradition I have a box with assorted biscuits that we bought in packet the other day They don't normally have shop bought biscuits so its a treat for them as they come into Granny's bedroom in the morning on holiday and have a dip in y cuppa They all choose whic biscuits they want Ben likes Nice,Jack likes Ginger Nuts, Henry like Choc chip and Mikey like Bourbon. All bought from Aldi's so it doesn't break the bank :) Me, I just enjoy having a cuppa in bed :) We also have a tradition of having a packet of sweets in each car for the boys to have on the trip and DD's car had Foxes glacier fruits, and mine has Sherbet lemons. The boys are quite firm that this is part of our yearly ritual, and part of the holiday :):) and they call it shopping for the holiday biscuits and sweets. You can tell they aren't spoilt by too much at all :)

I have packed most of my stuff, and just have to fill up with diesel this morning.

Hope everyone has a good day

    Cheers chums

They sound lovely kids and I hope you have a fantastic time.

    HH

I agree with all the above points and think you are a absolute angel to be so kind.

I have a builder free day so am having a quiet time. I cooked a couple of crustless quiches this morning and boiled some potatoes in their skins for mash and SW chips later. I have SW burgers to go with them and can manage without going shopping.

I managed to find an under sink storage unit and also a storage tower on wheels that should fit in the upstairs bathroom by the bath and use up otherwise unusable space.

Having lost a pound and a half at weigh in last night I am keen to do well this week but as it is a certain birthday on Saturday and dds have a "surprise" for me it could be challenging ;)

I hope your DH had a good night.

  • Afternoon ((((((((((hugs))))))))) if you need one.

Last night was ok, but this morning a nightmare, OH got up, but was soon back to bed. I am so cheesed off I phoned our GP. The man is a saint, he came out and sat for an hour going over what had happened with OH. He agreed that his time in hospital was not as it should be and that he should not have been sent home without a package of some sort in place. Unlike the Drs at the hospital he did listen to me.

He has written to OH's cardiologist about him, also arranged for me to go for xrays on my hips and knees and contacted social services about respite care for OH so I can get out.

The district nurse turned up whilst he was still here, I gave OH his injection and will do so for as long as it takes. The Dr and nurse were both happy for me to take this on, having seen me do it once.

OH had some lunch, he is now napping, will get him up for his supper, just doing some salmon to have with salad. Not sure what we will have for pudding, it might just be cold rice pudding.

Going to put my feet up for a while and read, I am exhausted.

Hester let me start by saying you're a better person than me; there's no way in this world I'd take on a human lodger, however temporary, or however desperate - I simply couldn't do it!
But I do think nmlc has hit the nail on the head re what the council can/will do to aid him if they think he has friends he can stay with.

Csarina thank goodness for your GP - let's hope he can get measures put in place to help you and your OH. It sounds like a total nightmare - coping vibes heading your way.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
  • Afternoon all
Well done Elona on the weight loss.
Hugs Csarina, hospitals are far too quick to throw people out in my opinion.
    Have a great holiday JackieO.
I hope you feel better soon AoD

Thanks for your concern but please don't worry, it is only a stop gap short term solution having hubby's friend to stay.
I have managed to speak to him and he has a plan B in place, the problem is only the time between his wife's death and the funeral. It will only be for a very short time and we can manage that for him.

Unfortunately the forthcoming death of someone hubby has known since he was a teenager and who is considerably younger than him has hit him hard, he is doing his best to hold it together for his friend, but sometime I am taking his phone away and fielding the calls to spare him.
I'm going out with my DD's this evening and I will take hubby's phone with me & leaving him mine in case he needs to contact me.

    Hugs Hester

Hardup Hester please don't take on anything else.
Jackie O hope you all have a lovely holiday.
CSARINA hope things improve and stuff is in place soon.

Daughter chose a Chinese takeaway for her birthday tea and very nice it was as well. We still have prawn crackers left and she had leftovers for lunch also. Son is in Milton Keynes seeing a friend for a few days. So very quiet.

Meet my mum in Waitrose for our free teas. It was nice to have a proper catchup as she is busy with my brother, grandkids and my Granmothers who are in poor health ,both are 96.Did a few errands via charity shops , got the second Takeaway Secrets book. Catching up on recorded tv.

Hugs to those who want / need them.

You know it is not just physical tiredness but worry as well so be as good to yourself as you can be in the circumstances. Thank heavens you have a good gp.

I just need to put the chicken cooked pieces in the fridge, take in the laundry from outside and put it on the airer, hang away dry stuff and load dishwasher then go and put my feet up. Have found a way to watch "project runway" online and watching season 10.

    Hugs to all
