Hi all,
As some of you may know I'm am a p2p fan boy however I want to diversify a bit. For the last 3 months I have been "gambling" so to speak on the stock market with quite good success but feel it's now time to get serious and invest.
I really want to hold some vanguard lifestrategy but I'm not sure which platform is the best and the cheapest, I hate paying to many fees.
I would appreciate any advice

Depends on how much you want to invest, but for smallish amounts (thousands rather than tens of thousands) the cheapest option will be a broker who charges a percentage fee. Charles Stanley Direct and Cavendish Online are the cheapest at 0.25% per year.
For larger amounts you would be better off with a platform which charged a fixed fee annually and/or when you make a trade.0 -

My main holdings will still be staying in p2p so I will only be placing around 1k in the fund and then 200 per month for the foreseeable future

When your holding grows and the percentage fees get too high, you can switch to a flat fee platform.
There's a hybrid approach where you use a percentage platform for regular purchases, then transfer to a flat fee platform for long term holding. Repeat whenever the percentage fee exceeds the transfer fee.0 -
My investment is small at this stage and the amounts are similar to yours.
I invest in the VLS 60 and use Cavendish Online for my provider.0 -
Cheers everyone, I have gone for CSD, is there any other funds you think may be worthwhile holding alongside vls80?0

I'm going to be adding the BlackRock Global Property Sec Eq Tracker Class D Acc alongside my VLS 100 Acc soon.0

The VLS is mainly large caps, you could look at something like the Vanguard Global Small-Cap Index to complement it for a small allocation. Bear in mind it will dilute your bond holdings a little. Just a suggestion0

FWIW I've given VGSC index a 50% allocation in my index tracker portfolio, regional large cap indexes and global property sec index are the satellites. Hunting for some asymmetric volatility to exploit with rebalancing. The VGSC index very loosely correlates with world equity markets so isn't likely to get left behind over a longer time frame.'We don't need to be smarter than the rest; we need to be more disciplined than the rest.' - WB0
