HSBC Online Offline Debit Cards

Hi Guys,
Friend just setup an HSBC account and got issued a 465943 debit card.
Was the full normal bank account and not a basic account - seems to not be a contactless card - am I right in thinking it also won't be an offline card ?
Would a secure message be the right way to go about enquiring whether they could get a contactless/offline card ?
Also as an aside my HSBC card is 465950 - but can't see it mentioned here before - is there something more special about the Premier Debit cards or do they just basically work like normal offline/contactless cards ?

Mine starts 465942 - I initially wasnt issued with a contactless as I 'didnt meet the criteria' - I complained as my credit card has contacless and they said if I agreed to drop the complaint they would give me contactless card - go figure!0
