I have a laptop that I upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7 before 29th July.
Today I saw there was an update to Windows Anniversary Edition dated Aug 16 which I proceeded with after a a much longer time than the original upgrade it appears I still have Windows 10 Home Edition.
What has happened and what is new?

If you had home edition before it won't be any different in terms of edition. There are a few differences in the way W10 works, e.g. being able to use linux bash shell, extensions for edge, but check out on the microsoft web site.

The way to tell which version you have is to hit the windows key and type in winver and select the first match in the list. It will show the windows version
Information about versions is at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_10_version_historyIITYYHTBMAD0 -
Aardvark - the latest updates to the Windows Anniversary Update (and, for me, several updates to Office 2010) is just like the "Second Tuesday" updates which Windows 7, 8, 8.1 receive.
Look in Start -> Settings -> Update and Security -> Windows update -> Update history and you should find something like
Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB3176495)
plus
Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool for Windows 8, 8.1, 10 and Windows Server 2012, 2012 R2 x64 Edition - August 2016 (KB890830)
The former cumulative update does not change the version number, which is expected to stay at 1607 (until the next major update appears, perhaps in early 2017).0 -
