    You actually don't need the CVC code at all. That's mostly just used to check for fraud - which is done the first time when you enter the CVC code - after that companies can just assume the card isn't fraudulent and continue charging it. It's also entirely likely they do store the card information and if they don't their merchant almost certainly does.

    Stripe is a popular online card processing company and does something similar to this. Me as a business has a product you purchase it and enter your card details but my servers never see that - it's sent directly to stripe who perform all the checks and store the card information. If everything is hunky dory they send back a token. Providing that token is active I can charge you for other things as I see fit. (Notwithstanding legalities of doing so)

    Fun fact - the Amazon server that is used to store credit cards is actually locked in a vault. Which seems sort of pointless since it's online but there we are.
