Cutting holes in floor joists ?
Options

I have a few options for venting a new shower .
By far the simplest would be to take the ducting through a floor joist so a need for a 100 mm hole.
Does the UK allow something like this ?

This would be one hole in one joist set about two foot from the end and would be between ground and first floor, the room above is a bedroom.
If anyone has any alternatives or suggestions I would appreciate it.

you would have to get an engineer to confirm that is possible in your particular floor constrction/loading etc - the manufacturers of these types of brackets should be able to point you in the right direction - it's not best practice if you can avoid itThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. Simple answer is use Rigid Flat Ducting/Channel (less than inch in height) not round ducting
You’d also struggle to get round rigid through anyhow over any distance of more than a 400/500mm without endless joins )and flexible is crap at the best of times0 -
Is it not possible to run the duct under the ceiling and box it in with plasterboard?0

I will still come through the ceiling just not in the centre of the shower ..as the vent includes a light fitting and I am too mean to buy another type I will just have to shower and feel a bit angry each time I look up.
Thanks for the replies0
