Hi all
Can anyone tell me where it's safe to leave the car overnight near the bus station in Newport? - We're off on a trip to London.
We'll be leaving very early in morning & coming back late in the night following day.
What about in a car park? How much approx?
Can anyone help?
Can't get a bus to Newport as they don't run out our way.

I once left my car on a road in Newport as it broke down on the M4. I limped into town and parked it, returned next day and the inside was burnt out!
Are you near enough for taxis, it might be worth it!Torgwen.....................

I think you can still park for free on the residential roads near Stow Hill... 5-10 mins walk to the bus station, but there are plenty of houses there so it's better off that the city centre.

Fran - that's awful! I don't want that to happen.
Last time I got a taxi from Newport (many years ago & during the daytime) it cost £20 single. What it would be at the ungodly hours we need I have no idea? It would negate the £10 each return to London on the bus - we just as well drive ourselves to London.
Been very many years since I went out in Newport - then Stow Hill was the place all the club goers parked. Is it still the same?
Any more suggestions anyone?0 -
Well, I went and parked in the NCP last night (for a train journey I was running late for), returned to my car at 9pm and the whole place was locked up!
I had to get a taxi home (extra £8), get a lift in this morning (kind housemate), and pay the extra time that my car had been in there since reopening! Grrrr...
So, if you intend to park safely overnight, perhaps NCP is the way to go!?!? Out of interest, I ran a google to find opening times, and came across this link: http://www.newportcitycentre.co.uk/Getting_Here/Parking/index.asp
Hope it helps!Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
Phew - thanks for that - really useful!
Parking Sunday am & returning late Monday - so it looks like most car parks are out unless I want to have your experience!
We'll have to get up early & go & trawl the streets for a parking space. At least I know that now. Thanks to one womans' pain....!
Thanks for sharing that.
I've just realised that the Riverside Theatre has short & long term parking available - This is I think opposite the bus station? Anyone know if it's safe to leave the car in the long term one? Also it's free on Sunday so presumably we can buy an all day ticket on Sunday & it'll be OK for all Monday too??0 -
Dont do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wouldn't leave my car there for that time. Why dont you park in Bassaleg and get a taxi from there?MFW - We've only gone and blooming done it!May 2013:j0

"they" want us to use public transport, especially trains ... yet "they" don't provide secure parking provision.0
