Why would the RAC man lie?
He probably didn't lie, he's just wrong.
I seriously doubt the average RAC patrol operative fully understands battery chemistry or electrical engineering well enough to properly use or interpret the results of the 'clever' battery tester they are given.
Simple fact is that the battery went flat.
Charge it.0 -
I was in a similar situation, battery died, I replaced it but didn't realise a rug had caught in the boot latch and left the boot light on completely killing the battery leaving nothing working. I jump started it, took it for a drive and it's been fine ever since particularly now the rug is kept clear of the latch.

If you bothered to charge it you will find out that the battery is fine, just discharged.
As others have pointed out rather more civilly, the RACman may have been wrong.
Thanks everyone.0 -

You do own a charger. It's attached to the engine.0 -

People were saying earlier i should remove the battery from the car and charge it, thats what i meant by not having a charger.
Thanks, though.0 -
"If you bought it from an independant local factors you paid more than you needed to and are at the mercy of the shop owner when it comes to warranty issues."
BigJill:what an utter croc of sheet you talk.
Why would a motor factor honour any warranty with no proof of purchase?
The customer could have bought the offending battery anywhere and be trying it on.
Motor factors offer a great service in the main.
I got a really good deal on a Yuasa battery for my Volvo last November from Sutton Auto Factors. 1/2 the price of Halfords.0 -

You don't say what car, but from the RAC test you pasted, 45Ah and 410CCA is a small battery - so a replacement is almost certainly going to be under £50 anyway bought online.0 -
Your alternator will charge it just fine.
Leave the engine running or something,0 -

That is why most shops mark the battery when you buy it, so they know you are bringing back the one they sold you.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

With regard to accidentally leaving interior lights on, THIS is why one of the first mods I do to a car is to change out all the interior bulbs and replace them with LEDs (but not COB or "canbus").
With LEDs I could leave my interior lights on for over a week and the car would still start.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
