Holiday insurance

Hi MSE-ers

I would be very grateful for any advice on this!

My husband and I have a USA multitrip travel-insurance policy that we took out in February this year. However, I'm now booked onto a horse-riding holiday in the States next month, and I need to take out a specialist travel insurance policy (which covers me for the specific activities) to cover me for the duration of it.

I've read a bit about this and understand that if I'm insured twice, I run the risk of one or other insurers not paying out in the event of a claim - which, given that I'm not covered for the horse-riding by our multitrip policy, could cause me difficulties.

What would be my best course of action, please - should I try to get my name taken off the multitrip policy? Is that even possible? I'm not worried about getting any money back - I just want to make sure that I'm fully covered on my forthcoming trip.:undecided

Any thoughts would be very gratefully received!
Thank you in advance,
BC

Maybe call your multi trip and explain the situation. They may agree to not cover you on their insurance for that period of time (an exclusion) - if they do so, get it in writing from them.

I've heard of similar things, but always best to contact them and get it straight from them.

You will be paid out for any proper claim, and none of the cover you have will be in jeopardy

If you have dual cover for a particular claim then the insurers will share the claim. (You claim off whichever policy you want to and the insurers will sort out any dual cover between themselves)
