Chasing in CH pipes

Options
After having removed a ceiling in the lounge (lots of mess & dust), I find myself wanting to lose the central heating pipes to the radiator and also relocate the rad.

Chasing a couple of channels in to the non load bearing wall is not a problem, nor is rerouting the copper pipes. So.....

The current plan is to run the pipes down a length of 20mm plastic conduit and then use a lime plaster to smooth things over (the rest of the wall is lime plaster).

Good idea or bad ?

  • Don't forget that the pipes will expand and contract slightly with the heating on and off and although they will be inside conduit, the heat may also cause that conduit to expand slightly and crack the plaster.

Unless I'm mistaken, using lime plaster (with extra fibre) should reduce the chance of any cracking.
