I have got this gas fire (https://www.direct-fireplaces.com/flavel-strata-high-efficiency-outset-gas-fire.html?gclid=CM2B6MbRts4CFUPgGwodW0EBGg)
in my home and I don't like the colour.
Can I re-paint it with gloss paint? or do i need a special paint as it might become warm.

It will become toasting, never mind warm !
Normal gloss paint will not work and will give off some horrible smells. What colour are you looking at? It may be possible with high temp stove paint, but the original paint is powder coated and heat cured, so if you can do anything , it will need regularly doing again, as it would come off in flakes.
TBH, I wouldnt chance it. They do that fire in a couple of other colours, why not contact Flavel and see how much a new casing would be for one. They do brown, white and cream, as well as the charcoal finish.0
