PCN in B&Q car park

Hi all, I've gone through the advice pages here but can't find my specific circumstance and hoped for a bit of advice if possible please.

Yesterday my partner, a pensioner by the way like myself, parked and shopped in the local B&Q. Returning to the car 15 mins later found a PCN on the windscreen from Total Parking Services which said "....incorrectly positioned to the inconvenience of other users." She had parked with one wheel over the line of a disabled bay although she didn't realise it when she left the car there. There were other disabled bays vacant at the time if that makes any difference.
Can anyone offer some advice on this.
Thanks in advance.

Terry

Welcome to private parking scam land!

Forget the fact there were plenty of spaces available it won't work with greedy scammers after your money.

The parking Muppet no doubt watched you park rubbing his hands as he rushed over to invoice you when you were safely out of site, another sucker caught bonus in sight!

Read the newbies thread on page one of this forum, but get straight back to the B&Q manager and complain in no uncertain terms about his contractor targeting legitimate customers.

Complain strongly to the manager. Does your partner have a blue badge? If purchases made in the store on the day take in the receipts (or bank/credit card statement) and the blue badge and insist the manager cancels the ticket as a customer should not be penalised over such a minor issue.

B&Q had major customer dissatisfaction when their erstwhile parking weasels (ParkingEye) caused grief and their contract wasn't renewed. It's so surprising that B&Q have jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire.

So hit them hard with a complaint, doing this in parallel with appealing to the PPC in line with the newbies FAQ sticky AND ensuring you follow the advice for the timing of sending in your appeal - pretty important.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

  • Success, thanks to all who helped. I went to the store with PCN and shopping receipt and although it took nearly a week, they cancelled the ticket with no questions asked.

If ir took a week, they probably passed it to head office or contacted the PPP. both of which are good.
