What are the negatives about buying an ultra low mileage car?

    Old fluids, oils, etc tend to go off, oil becomes acidic, coolant can actually form a mild electolyte. See here for a better explanation than I can be bothered to give.

    My parents serviced their car yearly even when they where doing less than 5000 miles a year.

    Not all people are so lacking in mechanical sympathy that they happily run a vehicle into the ground

    Most people would. There are (relatively) not many people who really give a damn about their cars these days, beyond how shiny it looks.

    Then I must know a huge percentage of that small minority.

    Because I only know a couple of people that don't maintain their cars properly.

    last low mileage car i bought was my 99 T reg citroen xsara diesel with 49k iirc and was circa 13 year old at the time it was on original everything. I dont think id bother with a low mileage old car again..
