Hi,

i have had a look at quite a few other threads on the forum but couldn't see a recent one like mine so if i am repeating a post you get a lot i apologise.

on the 29th June i took my mam to Sunderland Eye Infirmary, the machine and their website say parking is £2 one hour or £3 for 2, I had £2.90 which i put in the machine thinking it would give me near enough the 2 hours and didn't notice until i got back that it had only added an hours time. then on the 6th july they issued a PCN stating i entered the car park at 14.33.21 and left 15.59.41. I still have my ticket showing i paid for £2.90 10p less than the rate for 2 hours yet was only there 1 hour 26 which my fee should have covered yet i still have a ticket. when the charge came i just thought if they saw the ticket that would be the end of it so appealed but i don't think they even looked at it as they refused my appeal saying their records showed i hadn't paid enough. now I'm going to appeal to POPLA but want to make sure i do it right. i think its so wrong someone can get given bad news and given a charge notice to rub it in.

i would appreciate any help in how to proceed and have put the important details below to save you searching for it

Car park fees £2 1 hour £3 for 2
Paid £2.90
date of parking 29/06/16
time entered 14.33
time left:15.59
Time in car park 1hr 26
Company: parking eye
Location: sunderland eye infirmary
date fine issues 06/07/16

Read the NEWBIES thread and submit the usual appeal and complain to PALS/the Trust about the issue.

to start with you should have complained to PALS asap , and should still do so , get it cancelled by the trust, thats the best way forward and I am amazed that you have not thought to do this already

in the meantime , use the forum search box for recent popla appeals by other members and draft your own from those , especially any hospital ones or PE ones

only look at 2016 examples, nothing else

thank you for your advice. i have already appealed to PALS and the hospital manager but got a refusal of appeal before a response from them so forgot to mention it. the majority of the appeals i can see are due to other reasons, i paid enough and parked appropriately so thought my case may need different action

Sunderland Eye Infirmary - they normally cancel IMHO. A lady cancels them. Audrey, from memory.

use this as part of your complaint and chase up https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/nhs-patient-visitor-and-staff-car-parking-principles/nhs-patient-visitor-and-staff-car-parking-principles

nice to know what they SHOULD be doing, and remind them if they dont know

not for the popla appeal though
