Decking supports - advice please

Options
We are currently having decking installed and I popped home at lunchtime to find that whilst there are the corner posts, the guy has put a support half way down one side directly on top of a drain pipe despite us spraying out the placement of the drains on the grass. Should I be concerned by this and is it likely to be an issue? It is a new pipe as we have recently had an extension. The decking is raised. He told me that it wouldnt be a problem and the pipe and post mix, as well as the gravel which was already on the drain, will support the weight. The area is 5 x 4 metres.

can't see it being a problem. I'm sure lots of decks are laid above pipes when homeowners don't know where they run. You only know that one's there because it's new.

As long as the pipes buried at the correct depth the there should be little impact from the weight of a deck joist.

I believe they are. Am trying to get hold of the builder but to be honest he will just say yes anyway. I just had visions of the decking collapsing into the drain in a few years time. The decking guy says he can change it if we want but it will look odd. Im just looking for some reassurance that whilst not ideal, will be ok so thanks

You had building control out when you did the extension and all was signed off? If the drain comes out of the extension under floor level there will be more than enough ground between the support and drain. Don't worry about it.

Yes, everything has been signed off properly. The drain is in the garden and comes along side the extension then at the end of the extension scoots off across the garden. It is this diagonal piece which the post is sat upon.
