Excuse my lack of techie knowledge but is it possible to transfer programs recorded on my Sky+ HD box to my Sony dvd recorder box? I'm trying to make up some disks for my grandchildren of their favourite programs they watch when they visit, Bubble Guppies, Pepper Pig and more. They drive me mad at times, I've become a regular watcher as they can't watch at home anymore. Is it possible?

Why not just hook up the DVD recorder and record the programmes directly onto that?0

Your only option is googler's suggestion - plug a DVD recorder into the SCART or composite (yellow, red, white) output of your Sky box, and play the programmes on the Sky box, and record on the DVD recorder.
Sky don't want you copying programmes 'digitally' all over the place.0 -
No, I meant just record them 'off air' direct onto the DVD recorder.0

3 hours of peppa pig https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmkM823Z3aw
many many more examples .. Just rip them using your favourite method
Let me know if you need instructions0 -

Or you can just google peppa pig episodes and im fairly confident youll get a myriad of websites that will have them on. You can argue legallities about all that but then theres legal issues with recording to dvd to distribute to your grandchildren.
Always worth remembering there is no scheduled programmes (ok so a few niche ones) on youtube.0 -
There are other options. although they are probably overkill for the OPs requirement.Your only option is googler's suggestion - plug a DVD recorder into the SCART or composite (yellow, red, white) output of your Sky box, and play the programmes on the Sky box, and record on the DVD recorder.

I use a HDMI splitter that removes the copy protection (it shouldn't do but it does) and a Hauppauge HD PPR2 device to make a High Definition digital recording from my Sky+ HD box. Sky may not want me to do that but they cannot currently prevent it with their existing copy protection software.
I make them for personal home use only, mainly to have musical performances to play on my media player. For example, rather than keep an entire programme such as 'Later with Jools Holland', I just make a digital copy of the performance or performances I want which I can replay at original broadcast quality on my media player, and not have many lengthy recordings, of which I only want a small section, cluttering up my Sky+ disk. I am usually only interested in one or two of the seven or eight acts on each show. I also extract musical performances of interest from shows such as Graham Norton, Glastonbury etc.
Another benefit of this is that I make multiple back up copies of those extracts so, if my Sky box disk fails, as it inevitably will one day, I haven't lost a lot of recordings that I want to keep.0 -
Yes, Googler's suggestion of recording them at broadcast time on the Sony would be the best thing, but if you've missed that opportunity, and the stuff's on the Sky box, my suggestion is the only way of getting the programmes off the Sky box (without spending money). Plenty of children's TV all over the internet of course...0

I used to do this when we had sky0 -
Im not quite sure what you mean by this ?? Im intrigued , could you expand a little ?
Just that you can watch stuff on youtube without having to press record. No point messing about with leads discs and compatibality issues when its literally a web link away.
Ie pressing your link is far easier than whatever method you can choose to watch peppa pig at a convenient time for you.0
