How to get rid of side bars

It seems more common now to have, what I'd call, side bars appear on web pages. I mean those bars down the side of a page which typically have the like of links to Facebook, Google+, Twitter and so forth on them
Hopefully my question is simple. How do I get rid of them, I'm generally using an iPad mini?
As always many thanks
Kevin

Adblock allows you to choose to 'remove' specific elements of a web page
I use it in Chrome, seems its available for Safari too, so might be worth a try

Most ad blockers allow this feature. I use uBlock with Chrome, and use it with this very site to get rid of most of the surrounding (no interest to me) parts of the display.
I use the following in the My Filters section. (I use the old green stretchy forum skin - you may need different filters if you use a different skin).forums.moneysavingexpert.com###MSEForumsRHS forums.moneysavingexpert.com###masthead forums.moneysavingexpert.com##.ForumTeam forums.moneysavingexpert.com###theWrapper

Adblock does it by a point & click process though so might be easier than having to create a filter list ?0

I don't know about iThings, but on my laptop under these intrusions is a little arrow - I click on that and the annoyance disappears.

A quick fix with Safari on your iPad Mini would be to place 2 fingers on the screen and separate them to widen the centre portion so you can't see the pestering sidebars any more. That's what I do.0

Don't use Adblock, go for UBlock Origin, it's a little better. Ghostery is another additional option.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

So does uBlock. With the MSE forum though it's a bit trickier as they have nested DIVs, which makes it a bit harder to hide the bits you want to.
I know that my filter list does exactly what I want it to do.

There are some Stylish scripts that work on Firefox that can play fir the MSE interface.0
