Broken Vitamix- help?

Options
I received a Vitamix Total Nutrition Center as a hand me down from my sis when she migrated (I know lucky me). I stupidly left a spoon in it while i was making my morning smoothie and was only alerted when i heard a horrible grinding noise..

Now it won't spin and the black circular base at the bit is loose. As i have no warranty etc as it is a double hand me down. any one have any tips as to how I could fix it if possible; this machine is a life saver and I would hate to have to get rid of it but don't have money to send to a repair man.

Is all lost ? :(

  • Hi, I did a quick search on YouTube and found a few fixes, also lots of info on the net with vegan and raw sites discussing the Vitimix .
If you not a handy person, see if there is a small appliance mending centre near you, they are popping up in a few cities now,

    Hope that helps,
    X .

Vitamix actually offers a repair service:

Is it just the container blade assembly that's damaged or does the drive plug thing on the base unit look knackered as well?

If it's just the jug, you can buy replacements (blades only or whole jug) from John Lewis, Vitamix or ebay.

Do you know anyone else with a Vitamix so you can borrow a jug to see if the base unit is still working?

It will all depend on how long the motor tried to turn the blade whilst stuck on the spoon. Did the machine cut out or did you switch it off first?

Have you looked at the manual? You can get a replacement from Vitamix if you need one.

Could just call Vitamix for a quote, they may even offer free advice over the phone to save you sending it in - wouldn't discount them straight away until you know more ;)
