Fuel AllStarCard

Hi All,
Are there any real benefits of using these cards for a small business with a one car?
I understand this HMRC invoicing is good for VAT companies, but in this case VAT returns do not apply.
Thank you
Best regards,

I'd say it might depend on who / how many use(s) the car.
We've got a FuelGenie card for the work van. It's only ever used for work, and it means anyone - staff or volunteer - can fill it up without having to either use their own money or get petty cash (which we're reluctant to give out).
It works well for us.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Another option, seeing as the fees can be quite high, is to get a prepaid MasterCard eg the Revolut one, keep it in the vehicle, and any staff can top up as they need to. And you get an alert on your phone the moment they do, you can block the card on your phone if there's a problem, etc.0

Advantage of your suggestion: card can be used for fuel, windscreen fluid, anything else that might be needed. Or again that might be a disadvantage ...

It effectively gives you a credit line for your fuel, so that you don't have to pay for fuel as you go, but get invoiced at a later date.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

Yep, I'm not suggesting a prepaid card is a 1:1 map onto the fuel card facility, just it comes without a premium, and as you are alerted each use, you can remind the driver to bring the VAT receipt to the office (or dock wages, or whatever). You can even unlock the card remotely for a single transaction, and re-lock it afterwards, only fund it by £30, whatever. A different solution to a similar problem0

Some of the Allstar cards are duel purpose. For example ours are Allstar and Diesel Direct cards. When you see the symbol for Diesel Direct, you get the weekly rate charge not the pump price. When using motorway service stations it saves a lot.
Just a pointer though I had a HMRC investigation. I had some people put fuel claims in, some had fuel cards. It wa smuch easier to audi those with fuel cards than without, so now everyone has one. The MUST fill out a log and record mileages in case we ever have another HMRC enquiry.0
