Hair extensions faulty, refund on fitting?

Hi

Looking for some advice please. I had some hair extensions fitted back in May. I bought these through the same hair dresser that fitted them for me. The extensions have proved to be bad quality and the hairdresser has contacted the company and they have agreed to refund me the cost of the hair but not fitting, nano beads or postage. Why should I be out of pocket by so much for faulty products that have to be removed. Surely im entitled to everything I have paid out including fitting and if so who is responsible for refunding me, the hair dresser or the hair company?

Thank you in advance for any advice.

Yes I bought them through the hairdresser. I paid her for the hair and she ordered it and paid for it with her usual supplier. She says she wont refund me anything other than the hair cost as that is what her supplier is refunding.

If you paid the hairdresser direct for the hair and fitting then it is the hairdresser who needs to refund you. She has a contract with her supplier not you in this case.

How long were they in for before you had them removed, and how long would you usually expect them to stay in for?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

They havnt been removed yet. I got them put in in May and started to notice how bad they were just a few weeks later and I vocalised this during a chat whilst having some put back in. It wasnt clear at that point there was anything really bad with them. In June I returned and expressed I wasnt satisfied with them and the way they were behaving ie tangling constantly. I use quality products on them and have had different extension in the past without any problem. They were refitted and I was advised a trim would sort it out. I gave it a while longer but really wasnt happy so I then expressed I wanted a refund as they were getting worse fast. There was no way they were going to last the 12- 18 months I was advised (obviously with refitting) and constantly looked a mess. I was asked to take in the ones that had broken or fallen out and they were sent off to the company the hairdresser bought them from. This was 10 weeks after the initial purchase and fitting. The company agreed to replace which I declined as I have no confidence in their hair and want to return to a brand I have used previously. They have now agreed to a refund but only of the cost of the hair, im still waiting for this though. They dont want the hair back and I will be having it removed in the next few days before a new set is fit.

Are the hairdressers going to fit your new hair extensions and orginal beads without charge? If they are going to do this, then you should not be out of pocket financially for the service side of the issue. As it appears that the hair extension company have agreed that the product was not of satisfactory quality/fit for purpose then a full refund including shipping costs should be given under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 by the hairdressing shop you purchased the goods from as your contract is with them (you may need to remind them that their business to business contract with their supplier should have no bearing on their legal obligation to you as a consumer)

If it was me, I am a great believer in putting any issues in writing and on that basis would email the shop. Maybe something along the lines of:

    Dear ?,
Further to our recent discussions regarding the hair extensions your company ordered from your suppliers and fitted that were not of satisfactory quality or fit for purpose, I request a full refund of the £? paid to you in respect of this. My claim is made under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. You were given an opportunity to provide a remedy as per the legislation which was not successful and since this, your supplier has admitted the quality of the sample of my hair you sent, was not satisfactory by offering you a refund. As you will be aware under the CRA 2015 you have an obligation to provide a full refund of the price I paid to your company under these circumstances.

I am willing to accept a refund of hair extensions and shipping costs amounting to £ and the services of your shop in fitting new hair extensions and orginal beads in lieu of a full refund if this is more acceptable to you.

I look forward to receiving your reply and my refund.

If they refuse to refund your next step would be an offical letter before court action (google templates) and then court action. However unless the amount is significant it would be unwise to waste time and money taking it further than a letter before action.

i had hair extensions yesterday and discovered that am abundance of glue had been used to secure them causing me pain and discomfort. Two other hairdressers from different salons both agreed the the use of glue was excessive
I returned to the shop today .and informed the lady that the extension were put in with far far too much glue (which will damage my hair anyway) and i wanted them removed. Eventually she agreed, but i have to wait a week and under no circumstances would she refund any of the cost. which was £310. I now have to pay somebody else again to do them correctly at yet more cost which i consider unfair. Please advise.
