Old Shares

Options
Hi there

I'm hoping someone out there can help me. I am currently having shares from my late parents transferred into my name. My mother passed away three years ago and my father 9 years ago. I did try and transfer the shares at the time but I was quite young and was confused about things like probate.

I have now initiated a small holding change over but what I was wondering is what happens to all the unclaimed dividend cheques? Are they just lost money or do I have any entitlement to them?

Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated.

The dividends should still be there and you should be able to get them but the big companies that act as registrars like capita have a reputation for charging for each issued dividend cheque, so fir small cheque values it can make it uneconomic.

Do you know why your parents held shares. It would be more common for people to hold funds with presumably values that aren't too high.
