I work for the agency who oversee the regulations concerning "write offs". In terms of needing to have a new MOT done I can tell you that is not required under national law. When an MOT is issued it cannot be rescinded, even if the vehicle has had a massive accident. If the insurance company have told you a new one is required this is purely their own, in-house policy.
Also the vehicle will require a VIC if it is a cat A,B or C write off.0 -
