Incorrect registration number on ticket...do I need to pay?

Whilst on holiday recently we received a penalty charge notice for accidentally parking on a clearway (there were many cars parked along a verge beside stretch of road but all the cars whose wheels were slightly on the road, not fully on the verge, got a ticket.)
However our registration number is printed incorrectly on the ticket - one digit wrong.
I was wondering if there was any way to track me down if I just didn't pay.

Sit tight for now and see if you get an NTK - The chances are slim because an incorrect reg is normally fatal to a legit/council windscreen ticket. They cannot legitimately go-back and correct their mistake by getting your reg off notes/photos/other media.
If, on the very slim chance you do, then take this over to the Pepipoo Forum, who are the acknowledged experts on fighting legit tickets - but do read the info/guides first and be ready to supply all the info they ask for.
