Problems with new shed! Do I still have rights????

Hi,

I've recently had summer house installed for Approx £1800. It was a standard specification one from their catalogue.

Since they competed (4 days ago), I've noticed its sitting at a funny angle to adjacent walls. It's not just a couple of degrees out its way off! Others have commented that it isn't sitting right.

Phoned the manager just now to ask him to come take a look and he was incredibly rude and said we paid for it and signed for it so it's tough. He eventually agreed to come out Friday, he did say they have an 8 week wait for work at the mo. Before he does I'd like to know my rights? Am I entitled to a full refund if he says it's an 8 week wait? As they had to 'build it' I wonder if I'm still entitled to the same consumer rights?

Many thanks

Of course not! Why would you be entitled to a full refund?

You need to give the company an opportunity to put right what you say is wrong. You'll have to wait and see what the manager says come Friday.

How did a shed turn into a summer house ??

Did the vendor supply the base that the shed sits on ??
    Or did you .

That may well be the problem. If the base isn't true with adjacent walls then it's hardly the fault of the company who assembled the shed/summer house. Different if the firm also constructed the base...

A spirit level would show if the base is level and if the walls of the summerhouse are straight.

This is doubtless what the manager of the company will demonstrate to the OP on Friday...
  • We paid extra for them to supply and fit the base as well as the shed.
Is a summer house not a shed with Windows?
Thanks for your answers, I will give them a chance to put it right. On the phone he gave the impression that it was fine - he hasn't seen it yet!

So do you have a spirit level to check the shed yourself?
"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"
  • I have a spirit level but I don't need one to see that it's not right.
Was just wondering what my consumer rights are in case he was as awkward face to face as he was on the phone.
  • Surely the issue is with the base and not the shed? Too much fall on the slabs, if it was the shed and was actually built square the door wouldn't fit.

Yes, but it's already been established that the base was also installed by the company who assembled the shed. It will be up to them to perform remedial work to make it true.
