Pre-Approved Barclayloan in Barclays Online Banking

Hi,
When I logged on this morning I have a message telling me that I am Pre-Approved a Barclayloan of £50k, and the same message appears in the App.

How do they Calculate that figure, as to me it seems very high.

Has everyone else had figures at that limit or is it just me who thinks thats a lot to offer someone, and they might be tempted which depending on their circumstances might not be a good thing.

Yes it was £50k, Not sure how I do a screen shot or I would post it.

It seems to depend on the amount and Term, I did £7500 over 60 months and it was 4.9%, £50k over any term from 12 to 60 months was 7.3%.

Could just be targeted advertising to a captive audience as you are seeing the message with your online banking.

It is just "pre approved" after all.

Barclays update their credit-scored lending limits at the start of each month and they'll let you know about this through online and mobile platforms, as well as in branch if the cashier happens to get an eligibility prompt. So yes, it is a personalised quote, 50k is the maximum but that's unsurprisingly subject to status, and you're unlikely to be "reeled in" with one quote rate and then told another face-to-face unless your circumstances are significantly different to those they have on file for you.
