Virgin & CISAS

Hey everyone,

Just wondered if anybody had been in this situation before and had some advice,
Basically I was 11 months in to a 18 month contract with Virgin when they said they were hiking the price up, but I could cancel free of charge before 31st January. I called them on 7th January and was told I'd have to pay a cancellation fee. So I didn't cancel. A few months later, I decided to challenge this, which eventually went to CISAS and they ruled in my favour, saying that Virgin need to put me in a position I would have been in had I cancelled on 19th January. They had taken 2 payments since that, on 1st Feb and 1st March. However, because I was mid complaint, I cancelled the direct debit. This resulted in debt collectors calling me.
Now based on CISAS ruling I'm expecting a refund for Feb and March but what are my chances of compensation for putting a default on my record and also having the stress of constant calls from debt collectors etc? Completely the fault of Virgin because they never followed up my original complaint to have it resolved, which is why I went to CISAS in the end and they ruled in my favour.
I knew I had a strong case, and that the outcome would be favourable because I had evidence to prove it (a letter they had sent me saying I could cancel for free). I've accepted the CISAS decision, I've contacted Virgin to resolve and was promised a call back but heard nothing, which regarding the seriousness of the situation I'm very surprised about.

I just wondered if anyone had perhaps been here.before and what I should be expecting from Virgin (CISAS ruling said to put me in the position as if I'd cancelled on that date, and an apology) but should I be looking at something more substantial based on the material and financial stress I've been put under?

Thanks in advance

You need to quantify your losses both material and financial .

Talking about more substantial suggest you are looking for a larger compensation than £30- £50 .In that case engage a compensation lawyer .

Virgin Media do not offer compensation of any kind!

The most you would get back is prob about £10, and that would be the missed direct debit fee.

You will get a refund of March's payment but not February's. This is because if you cancelled in January regardless of if its free of charge cancellation you would still need to give 30 days notice. Meaning you would have needed to pay Februarys bill.

How do you quantify a black mark on your credit rating? You can add a correction comment to them or try to get it removed
