Name spelt wrong on contract

Hi,
I'm currently in the processing of buying my first house in which my solicitor has sent to me the contract to sign for me to return.
However my first name is spelt wrong on just about ever page apart from the mortgage deed and the postcode of my current address on one of the pages. What I want to know is does this matter?
I rang the solicitors ( my solicitor is on holiday at the moment) and was told by another solicitor to just cross them out , initial it and rewrite the correct spelling etc, is this correct?
Just I don't want to sign, get it witnessed and sent it back if I'm only going to have to do it all again.
Thanks in advance and apolagies if it is classed as a stupid question!

It's fine.
As long as you correct it on each page and initial your correction, you can then sign the document.0 -
Yep, my wife's name was spelled incorrectly on the contract and we initialled the correction.0
-
That will be fine. If the document is to be witnessed, you could have the witness initial your corrections as well. You should really ask your solicitor why the document is riddled with mistakes. You are paying them fees at professional rates and someone in the office should be checking the contracts that go out.The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0

Yep, that would worry me too but I think other replies should put your mind to rest.0

My concern would be about the other sloppy mistakes they have made that you haven't spotted. Solicitors are the worst value for money service you will ever procure.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0

Dunno... - I've procured some pretty poor value for money services in my time.......0

Yes, shocking value for money. But a good Solicitor is worth a shock. You could always get another Solicitor to review it if you can't settle your mind on this...but that's even more cost!0 -
Go mental, and insist they spell them correctly?0
-
If it was once, I'd correct it. If it's multiple times, I'd insist on new ones. Does your solicitor not have a secretary that can change and reissue the papers ?0
-
Initialing is fine for one, maybe two errors but in this case I would get them to reissue corrected papers. You might make a mistake yourself, or forget to initial something, or fail to spot one of the errors.
They can email them over (presumably) if you have a printer?
It's really sloppy and not very professional to ask you to initial so many errors. The other solicitor should have apologised and said they would sort it out immediately. Unfortunately some firms of solicitors don't have a concept or policy when it comes to customer service.0
