hi guys
i have a non-refundable hotel room that i need to cancel. The hotel is unable to do anything except change name on the reservation - is it worth me trying to get travel insurance and then trying to cancel - will i have any chance of getting my money back? If i say i missed the hotel booking or forgot about it for example..would this enable me to make a claim for the money back? Anyone done this before - its around 200 pounds in total for 2 nights so quite a bit of money to ignore..i have double booked by mistake - i thought my other booking didnt go through but it did and now i have 2 hotel bookings for the same dates :-( can anyone kindly help me?

You can't get travel insurance that covers you against paying for hotel rooms by mistake.
If you have more rooms at the hotel ask them to have pity on a customer and give you a refund. Won't cost anything to try.0 -
i did try telling the hotel - emailed the manager - they said they are very sorry about the mistake but they cannot refund me anything - the only thing they can do is transfer the booking to someone else's name at the least - but I don't know anyone who would want to go to Madrid for 3 days 25-27th August - i'm getting very desperate now not sure what to do and also which hotel to actually use now - one Is 193 pounds with breakfast - the other is 160 without breakfast0
