Can I get rid of my annoying housemate?

A new guy has recently moved into my house share but since he's been here he's shown himself to be not a very nice person to live with. He's done nothing wrong in terms of paying bills late etc but he's moody, domineering and a general PITA.

Is there any way I can get him to leave? I have the support of my other housemate plus we haven't got round to sending off our shared tenancy agreement with him on it yet.

It might be easier if you and your housemate you get on with, look for a two person share and move into that, whose to say the replacement, should you be able to persuade your LL you dont like this one, will be any better ?

Do you have a spade and a patio?
You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friend's nose.

I think the patio is for partners.

I think for housemates its the woods.

You mention a "shared tenancy agreement" but you need to be more specific eg

    * when did you move in?
    * when did your other housemate(s) move in?
    * what tenancy agreements did you (each) originally sign?
    * dates on the agreement(s)
    * how did the new housemate come to move in? You found him? The landlord found him?
    * who vetted/credit checked him? When and how?
    * what has he paid? Deposit? Advance rent?
    * who did he pay? You or the landlord?
    * Is his deposit (if paid) registered? Who registered it? When?

Full details plus exact dates please!

I agree with the poster that said the two of you should just move somewhere else. Might be easier.

ha, this took a dark turn! thanks for the advice but it seems a little drastic to me. :)

my plan is to buy my own house this year so hopefully i won't be around too long. just need the housing market in london to give me some houses to buy!

guess this is an extra incentive to find somewhere quick.

i've been here for years. he's been here for 2 months maybe. we have an assured tenancy agreement for 6 months although our joint one with him on it is still to be signed. my flatmate found him and he's paid a deposit to the letting agent.
