  • TA, to be honest I don't understand why the LL for next door has never done a 12 month inspection or something like that. The tenants had been there, I think, for about 7 years and he told me recently he had said no dogs. I was telling him we had had to get in touch with the Dog Warden about the attacks, and it had to be logged with the police.

The LL still has to pay the mortgage, and they have not been paying rent, so it doesn't seem fair to me. If they had looked after the property I think you would be more sympathetic.

I hope your son finds a good tenant again

Morning everyone, thanks for the thread Hester.

Dull and overcast here but it's due to brighten up later. Just taken Mum a cup of tea in bed, she slept well and seems happy.

It was a beautiful day yesterday, wall to wall sunshine but not too hot. I drove over to pick Mum up in my little soft top as our big car is having problems. Funnily enough and despite her mobility problems, Mum finds it relatively easy to get in and out of my car, she certainly looked very glamorous with the roof down and dark glasses on :) We popped over to Bury and found her a lovely fascinator to wear to nieces wedding, it's a beautiful eau de nil colour and goes well with her outfit & her beautiful silver hair.

Not loads planned today, want to have a look round the nursery in the village as would like to put a clematis next to the side of the shed and there might be some mid season bargains to be had.
Food wise have some chicken kebabs marinating in the fridge so will have those for lunch with loads of sald bits, have a hankering for cherry clafoutis so will make one of those for afters.

My brother is picking Mum up later to stay at theirs ahead of the scan tomorrow morning so will also whip up a quick sponge cake so have something to go with a cuppa.

AOD, hope you feel better soon, (((hugs))) to Csarina, thinking of you.

Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday, take care folks x
  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one. OH not so well yesterday, I ended up spending 3 hours there and feeding him his lunch. He seemed a bit better when I left, but I am very concerned about him,
Ifeel the nurses are not giving him proper care.

I came home and cut the grass in the front was crackered when I had finished. Watered the garden last night , it really needs a couple of days of steady rain.

Going in to see OH later, then on to DD2's for supper.

Morning all, bit overcast here at present, hoping it will brighten up for a BBQ we are going to later.

Watched the cycling in Rio yesterday and saw some fab places. Our son lives there intermittently, and is working on the Olympics at present and we plan a visit next year at some point.

Off to mark that nutritious pudding Gypsy Tart. we used to have as a school dinner and it seems to be a very local Kent dish. Think pastry case, brown sugar and evaporated milk!

Lainey, your Mum sounds lovely, and your love for her shines through. I hope all goes well.

csarina, hope all goes well for your OH too.

    Have a good day all

    Morning all,

Its a bit overcast here this morning but no rain as yet, I have some washing on the line and another load in, I will strip the beds after this and get them washed.

We went to friends last night for a bbq which was really nice, we were told to get there for 5 ish and bring our own meat which we did do, we sat and had a beer or two with no sign of the other guests an no sign of any food, OH and I were starving at this point the host eventually left to run down the shop and arrived back with some crisps and dips which we fell upon :o the other guests started arriving at 8 ish then they chatted a bit more before lighting the bbq, we then all got our meat out and cooked it, I had taken a bowl of salad and four rolls, which were the only rolls there for 8 people  I made sure OH and I had a roll and left the others to fight over them, to say we were hungry was a massive understatement, having said that it was a lovely night and very enjoyable, although I an very hungry still this morning and going to make myself some boiled eggs, we need to go and collect my car later on and will have a walk over there with Evie.

Not sure about dinner tonight but we have loads in so wont go hungry.

    Have good days all xx
  • We have been tenants in various properties over the past few years, many of them have been left in better condition when we moved out than when we took over the tenancy. In some cases I has to give the place a deep clean before we moved in.

The last agency we were with said we were the best tenants they had. Always reported any problems to get them sorted quickly and the place was left immaculate when we moved out. Then sent us a letter saying they were sorry to loose us as tenants.

I think part or indeed most of the problem is because tenants think, 'well its not our house' therefore do not bother. I do think however that trashing a house is beyond the pail. Our agents did a visit every 6 months, and we could report problems at any time even at weekends or holidays. To be honest I cannot understand people living in a guddle. We have some friends who have their hall lined with boxes that have been there since they moved in.......and books stacked up everywhere. I just could not live like that.

I must admit its the older generations that seem to keep properties in good nick, our neighbours here in the close keep the bungalows sparkling.

    Morning everyone,

Dull & windy here too & a good bit cooler than yesterday. DH & I had a rare afternoon and night to ourselves so we wandered up to alocal Italian cafe for our tea-it was lovely.Walked back home via the pub DH goes to on Thursdays for a quiz night with his friends.I hadnt been in before and its all been done up and is nice, very old and made from the same stone as our cottages.Just had the one, then had a chat with some neighbours who were in the front garden as we passed, must have been stood there half an hour.Sat out at the back and DH lit the chimenea when it started going a bit dark, left him out there when I watched some Olympics.

DS took the littlies camping for the night, hope they got on ok.His mate went & has 2 older girls and they went as well so he was hoping theyd all get tired out and sleep well :D

A sign went up next door to say that had been let this week-hope we get better neighbours than your last ones Candlelight.TBH I'm amazed its been let as the work inside isnt finished, and given the noise and disruption that will be starting when the road repairs and filling in of the landslide from Boxing Day commence,I'm baffled as to why someone would rent it yet, unless theyre getting a reduction for a few months cos its not cheap

Csarina hope you find OH better today, its a worry when you think theyre not getting good care x

Chicken breasts for tea,not sure how I'll do them yet though. No other plans as such,DH has to shift some rubble from the front garden and cellar and thats it.I want to finish my book too.

Hope you are all able to have a lovely Sunday xx

Its not a case of think, I know, I have seen it for myself. He is in a serious condition, the clot could move at any time and that would be curtains if it lands in the wrong place.

A number of times when I have been visiting I have rung the alarm bell, only for no one to respond.....I have then had to go and find someone. Yesterday he asked for a bottle, he needed to pee, after 20 minutes I went and got it myself!! I know nurses are busy but at weekend care goes out of the window, it is only slightly better during the week.

It was a good job I was there yesterday, the staff nurse gave him medication, 3 tablets, 2 went down ok the third he choked on, I had to shout at the staff nurse to help me pull him forward and bang him on the back. Fortunately the tablet shot out, much to my relief.

When he is back at home I will be sending a letter to the PL people detailing my concerns.
  • Csarina I love the word guddle, I think I know what it might mean.

As to your poor DH, I know from experience we will fight tooth and nail for our husbands, but I have to say since April when he was diagnosed with heart failure we have had wonderful care from the HF nurses. I am afraid his GP is a little out of his depth and I have to go in with him to explain when he is gaining fluid and how the diuretics need to be increased.

The HF nurses are dealing with it all the time, but the GP has to know a lot about many conditions, so I am not saying he doesn't understand, but Himself won't speak up, so I do it for him. He probably thinks I am very bossy, but I don't care, we might not have a second chance if I don't speak.

I hope you find him improved this afternoon, I know how worried you must be.

Csarina - good for you fighting for your OH. My old Dad had terrible care in his final hospitalisation and I eventually filed a formal complaint after he died. Nothing they did hastened his death but they didn't help make it very comfortable or dignified - luckily he was moved out to hospice. The consultant was struck off for this and other complaints from other families patients. I know I did the best for my Dad and stood up to inadequacies and neglect.

The weather here turned very nasty fairly quickly this morning. The gales were joined firstly by drizzle then heavy drizzle and finally by heavy rain which is going horizontally past my window.

So, not much done today apart from surfing and tidying up.
