The various lookup sites use the make/model from the DVLA record, as found by the reg, to search for the right parts.
When an import is registered, the make/model aren't taken from the same manufacturer-supplied lists as when a new vehicle is registered, so they may well be listed differently, or even just as a generic. I've got V5Cs for imports with the model blank or something as generic as "two axle rigid body".
It's one of the risks of personal import vehicles - if you're not able or willing to do some basic legwork yourself, or your garage are so inflexible, then you might find life easier staying in the mainstream.0 -
