    Go on, do elaborate...

I've already given you one direction to look at - a direction which is giving a much higher return than property for me, with similar risk and much better liquidity.

I will certainly look at that suggestion. I am wanting at least 20 per cent annual return.
I sometimes buy fine goods for a few hundred and re sell straight away or a few months or couple years down the line for several times the outlay. It's fun. But the supply isn't always there. It's made me a chunk of cash though.
So something has to match or near match that. Emerging companies or futures or something
  • Your place hasnt gone up 15% until you sell and make a profit, in this falling market people are not paying high prices

My fund portfolio is up 10% this year alone, but funds are for the long term eg 10years+ and 99pc of them will be in profit over this period. There is nothing wrong with vanguard but its a low cost tracker which does well, but if you want large gains in 1-2yrs an actively managed emerging market fund is better. Aberdeen latin america im in is up 40% in the last 18 months

And what on earth are "fine goods"?

Do me a favour, will you? If you find a foolproof 20% return investment, let me know, will you? Thanks...

    Art work.
Some of my returns to chew on
    £100 to 1000
    450 to 1200
    295 to 1750
    550 to 1000
    Freebie to 350
    150 to 500

You get the drift. Max hold time: 2 years

How does your 8.2% p2p look now? *Wipes tear away*

You either have the eye or don't. Maybe I should stick to what I'm doing, I certainly have the talent.

So that's trading activity, not investing. Great, while you can get the stock - which you admit you can't. And, tbh, a gross 20% margin isn't that hot for trading activity. Your local corner shop will have a bigger margin on many of their lines.

Well then you've answered your own question haven't you, why even ask here, since this is an area you understand, that produces guaranteed high returns, why arent you just scaling this up? Go for it.

Well I'm here for several reasons
    - I want to think bigger for the future
    - demand for what I acquire is high so my supply isn't always guaranteed
    - it's not like these figures are every week or month
    - I collect too, so there's an emotional attachment unlike other investments

    hang on a mo.

First you trumpeted how much better that was than what is pretty low risk P2P, and now all of a sudden its not so good and is a tiny operation with small overall profits?

Make your mind up. And I'm out.
