It's literally impossible to see who got the best deal. If it's actually worth £160K then you got a good deal but if it was priced £20K over its value then you didn't.0 -
We didn't negotiate at all.
We thought,"This is so cheap, there has to be a reason," and waited for someone to gazump us.
We found out the reasons behind the sale before the gazump attempt, but as they had nothing to do with the property and no link to it in the media, they were of no great concern.
It wouldn't have been a huge bargain for everyone. This is a rural, agricultural property, so cash purchase only and a lot of hard work. Nevertheless, like stupidly-priced flats in London, there's always some crazy b'tard who wants one!:rotfl:0 -

Completely agree. The neighbours house sold as a buy to let for £185k a couple of years ago, its only worth what people will pay!

When we bought our bungalow March 2015 - asking price £145k, initial offer £135k, accepted offer £138k, due to the place needing work. We then spent about £15k renovating and repairing.
When we bought our investment property January 2016 - initial asking price £94950, dropped price after six months to £89950, accepted our offer of £85k because we were paying cash and could complete quickly.
When we sold our house in late 2015 our asking price was £149k and we accepted an offer of £143k. Main reason was a chain free sale and we had already moved into the bungalow.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Badly, I suspect, but it's water under the bridge. We're delighted with the house and there's no point worrying about whether we overpaid and/or undersold the previous one.0

On market for £150k (for a few years!), Offered £143k, ended up closer to £130k due to survey throwing up problem with roof needing replacement.0

Another one who didn't. Property was far better value than any of the others I'd seen at a similar price, my options were limited so I went for it at the asking price and haven't regretted it.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
