Replacement solar panel for outdoor light question

I have a shed light that takes 3 x 1.5v (4.5v total) rechargeable batteries which are recharged by a small solar panel

The solar panel has gone faulty

I have a spare working solar panel that used to be used to recharge a 6v solar powered light (product used a 6v lead acid battery)

Would this 6v solar panel damage the 4.5v shed light if I connected it up ?

IIRC I know that usually supplying excess voltage is a bad idea but as its only recharging the batteries I was wondering if theres a chance it would be OK

Also could I add a resistor into the circuit to reduce the voltage ? ( my knowledge of electronics is quite limited )

I doubt it would make any difference, just checked my laptop battery is 10.something volt and the charger output is 19v. They are usually something like that.

Rechargeable batts are 1.2v not 1.5v which is why you shouldn't use them for things like wireless room stats
