Buffy and the Power of Ten

  • Next year (in August) I will have been here ten years.

    TEN YEARS.

I love this place. It saved me when my Dad died. I joined almost a year after he died. Back then I couldn't write those words. I loved him so much. I love him so much. I was so scared and in such debt. I look back to then and wonder what I would have done without this site. Well, honestly I think I know. I was about 25000 in debt dealing with a grief stricken Mum, a distant sister and a hopeless relationship. oh and a horrendous job that got way worse before it got better....

I don't think I have posted consistently all that time, I also think it is a miracle that I haven't been rumbled in real life as Buffy :) Or at least I don't think I have.

There are still problems, but overall, no debt, a manageable situation with Mum, much less clutter, a better garden(which is going to stay that way now, a new bathroom, 2 beautiful dogs, a better job and healthier attitude to it, actual savings and investments (!)

Typically as it is Winter I feeling the kick of the miseries plus the adjustment of Mum being back is tough but I think I am ok. Lots of thinking going on and re assessing things after my near death experience last night but I think that is normal!!

I am going to do the bank account shuffle in the new year and tackle my Amazon habit...........!

I am going to look for a pre lit Christmas tree.......not sure I can face the loft/lights/Christmas tree situation.

I've been on here 8 years. Scary isn't it. So much has happened to me in those 8 years. Things have done downhill for me if I'm honest. Mr SA firstly hit by the recession then his illness :( On the plus side I now have 2 lovely grandchildren, my lovely dog and a secure job :) I remember both of you posting on my first ever diary (Champagne Lifestyle Lemonade Budget) - sigh - life was so much simpler then.

Buffy like you we have gone for the easy option with an artificial tree with snow laden branches which only needs lights no baubles. Usually we have a real tree but just too much trouble this year?

The threads on here have been a lifesaver for me too xx
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)
  • Sending you big hugs SA XXXXX The tree got as far as the spare room before I called it quits, am so tired all the time and thus decided to rest today, I just couldn't work feeling so rotten. So I am here having the Sunday I never got have yesterday as it all was too stressy!

    Anyhow best get on.
