Ryan Air Praise

I imagine the title of the thread will raise a few eyebrows but I have to say they excelled themselves yesterday when Travelling back from Murcia to Luton.

Whilst on holiday my wife broke her wrist, long story don't ask, so I was a little concerned that just 6 days later we would be on a cattle flight home and may not be sat near or next to each other.

Long story short I cocked up the booking in and we ended up 9 rows apart on different sides of the plane using different entrances.

I used the online chat service and they, for free, reallocated our seats so we were sat next to each other and gave us fast track baggage drop off as well. They did try and sell priority boarding at 5 euros a person but as we knew the airport and how easy boarding is we didn't bother.

When we came to drop the case of they booked in the wife's hand luggage, a small case, for free. I know they will sometimes do this to keep free space on the plane but it was helpful none the less.

Finally, when we sat in our seats on the plane the seats that they had allocated for free were the extra leg room seats over the wing next to the emergency exits and rather than be awkward about it the stewardess was really apologetic that she had to move my wife for take off and and landing but managed to ensure that she was only a row away, helpful when I had to put her seat belt on as she struggled one handed.

All in all for an airline that tends to get a lot of criticism on this occasion, i tip my hat. Well done Ryanair, well done!

Disclaimer: I am not suggesting you break a loved ones wrist in order to get this treatment by the way! :rotfl:
One day some company will do what they say they will do and charge a fair charge.:T

Not doing the opposite of that which they promise and charge you a fortune for the privileged. :(

Or maybe not:mad:

  • I like Ryanair, like most companies/ people if you're polite and reasonable they'll treat you the same in return.

I do worry about the advisor that thought it was a good idea to put your wife on the emergency exit row though! Presumably they thought they were being helpful with the extra legroom but missed the important door next to you. But glad it got sorted out upon boarding with no fuss.

Hope she's on the mend soon!
  • I'll think you'll find this is a legal requirement under the equality act 2010.
  • I'll think you'll find this is a legal requirement under the equality act 2010.
    Why?
The act you refer to only guarantees equal treatment to certain groups of people and someone with a broken wrist doesn't fall into any of the categories.
Even if the act did apply, all it means is that equal treatment and not preferential treatment needs to be given.

You know what uranium is, right? It's this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things.

I think it's terrible they delayed a plane full of people because they didn't bring the specialist seat required for them to fly.
