Fire cement / fire silicone?

I think it's one of these that we need for this part of the fire, right?

Where it's cracked. Just to touch it up.
Would you use one over the other (& why)?
I'd guess probably fire cement is best of the two? At any rate is there a brand out there that is known as being better (or worse) than the rest?
Excuse the dust

Ok.
Can anyone hazard a guess as to what has been used in the picture then?
And back to the original question of what should be used, praised brands etc?0 -

They have used fire cement, the right stuff for the job.
Issue is it's supposed to be used in the joint, not built up on the surface to crack like that.
R%emove the excess to reveal the actual joint, i'd wager its fine under that crap,
If it isn't, buy a 3 squid tub of the stuff and thumb it over,;);)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
Yeah i peeled off what i could & looked ok to me (whether it is or not i don't know).
I'd burned wood after it was re-fitted & didn't notice any smoke coming out. The alarm didn't go off.
I guess they just went OTT with the stuff then.0
