we tend to go for BBQ meat (a variety, pre-marinated and frozen), a couple of premade salads (cooked pasta/potato with dressing/mayo to add just before serving), bags of leaves, toms, cucumber and then take whole veg for the BBQ. Sliced courgette/aubergine, chunks of pepper/onion, all taste so much better when cooked outdoors. I like my condiments so I always take S&P and HP as a minimum but usually more.
If you are taking a disposable BBQ make sure you have a way of raising it off the ground - they sell stands these days but we have been known to take a couple of bricks!
Bags of crisps to keep you going as meals always take longer than you think. Full English for brekkie. Sandwich stuff for lunch - tuna keeps with fridge.
We have a Trangia - with gas not liquid fuel. It is brilliant but pricey. We always use a BBQ (either gas or brickette) as well but we tend to go in groups mostly and communal cooking is more fun.

For some reason I'm not sold on the "Ratpacks"...

Would it be considered bad form to get Asda to deliver to the campsite? I'm half joking.... I was thinking their refridgerated vans would keep the food fresher than my coolbox!

I wasn't keen on them either. Hence I later became an accountant😀 But it was great at the time and I met my husband when he hoofed me over the assault course wall on the first day. The rest is history.

Asda delivery - great idea. I do it on holiday whenever I can. Just make sure you have enough for an emergency - breakdown of van or inappropriate substitutions.

As it was £20 and in theory "stormproof" I thought I'd give it a go.

You could make one yourself, out of an empty Vimto can. :)

I'm guessing I should be able to get bio-ethanol in most outdoors/hardware type places?

    I get mine from B&Q.

It's a lot cheaper than their Meths.
