Neighbour and fruit tree

Chop the tree down and then ....
I'll lend you my rusting old combined harvester. You can park it right up against the fence. He'll enjoy seeing that every morning, won't he? Much prettier than a leafy little apple tree. :->0 -
I agree with money too, except on the matter of your having proof that the neighbour agreed to you planting the tree, because that implies his permission was necessary, but it wasn't.
In any event, there is no proof regarding a conversation 10 years ago, so forget that angle; he should have no influence over whether you plant a tree or not.
Unless you can hire a very large digger and fit into in your garden, that tree probably won't survive being moved, so just carry on enjoying it.
As others have said, there may be something going on in the neighbour's life which is causing a change of behaviour, or he may have a mental condition. It's not for us or you to guess. For that reason, just carry on being polite, but firm.0 -
At some point he will find out he is allowed to prune it though, and i think that maybe the death of the tree anyway.
Oh yes he moans about everything, sister came down and we opened her bonnet to check her fluids and he commented on not doing work outside his house. Normally when he moans i just shrug and ignore him.
I am not the person to get aggressive or shouty, If he doesnt want the apples then someone else will. Mates selling a car with a massive straight through exhaust i wonder if i should buy that and go out at 4am every morning? Give him something to really moan about?
Its just i have had a few health issues lately and had a spell in hospital which he knows. Whats funny is he borrows my tools and when he cannot complete a task in his chosen occupation he asks me.
Never charged him a penny either.0 -
Well - you know what to do about lending him any of your tools or helping him out in future = don't do so.
At a guess - he may be picking on you now because he thinks you are "weak" at present (ie the health issues and time in hospital). Those are not the actions of a nice person - ie him being that way.
Why would you even want to have anything whatsoever to do with someone who "picks on" someone else (ie yourself) that they perceive as weak and is doing so despite you having done him favours?
Someone else will know better than me as to whether the tree would be likely to die or no if he trims it back to the fence. I doubt it - but someone will come along who knows the answer to that one better than I do.
A bit of one of my trees got ripped off (somehow........hmmm.....) and I painted on some stuff recommended to me by a garden centre owner to prevent the risk of it getting diseased because of that damage/"damage"?? and it's been okay and is putting on new growth.0 -
Thanks, i know trees can be quite hardy, i have a pear tree that actually snapped a branch with the weight of the fruit on it. I used some twigs to create a splint and used duck tape and it healed itself. lots of pears from it now. Luckily thats not near the fence.
Although the pears are a bit lacking this year. I didnt get to dig in some manure like i normally do though. Maybe a dose of chicken pellets and manure does wonders for the crop?
Normally i plant stuff and its wow yes something grew, even of its a weed.
PS. no access for a digger, it can only be dug out by hand and moved with tools that fit through an internal door, no long items either because there is a turn.0 -
Ignore him and set him down in his place if he bugs you again0
