I have a witness, do I have to state the witness name and details in the my defence plea? And, do I send the witness statement the same time as the defence plea?

Is the answer to this not available on the internet? Have you looked?

Incidentally, in Excel's reply to my appeal they stated that "You failed to purchase a valid ticket as you have entered the details, XXXXXXX; rather than the required, "5". It is important that you enter the full and accurate registration of your vehicle while purchasing a ticket" The registration number that they quoted as having been entered is actually the correct registration of the car in question. Would that have a bearing on the claim? Does anyone know what that "5" means?

Seems to suggest that they are under the impression that the vehicle registration had a 5 in it, where yours has another character, presumably an S? What vrn do they quote in their particulars of claim? (You've admitted in your defence that you were the registered keeper of that vehicle, so do double check). Are you sure the driver omitted to enter the registration number? On the face of it, there is an admission by Excel that a ticket was purchased using the vrn of your vehicle, in which case that should certainly be pleaded in the defence. Then add something along the lines "Further or alternatively if, contrary to the Claimant's admission, a ticket was not purchased using the registration number of the Defendant's vehicle........ "(Reverting here to what you said about the driver not seeing the sign)
