A NSD for me today.
Running low of porridge oats so that'll be on the next shopping list. Had them with frozen berries, which DS said he didn't list, but he ate them all, and he liked them over the weekend so I'm ignoring him! Haha. I had jacket potato and leftover winter veg curry for lunch and tea has been risotto with leek, mushrooms, peas (running low), leftover chicken and leftover gravy instead of stock.
I'm really pleased I'm using up leftovers, not just letting them fester in the fridge before throwing out, which is what I was doing. I'm also pleased I'm not panicking about running low on stuff. It's ok if we run out, I can buy more, the world won't end if I have no peas!0 -
I haven't been on for a little while but I've kept my receipts. £272.52 added.
This is a real eye opener for me as I'm nearly £600 over budget (ouch).
Will need to try so much harder next year. I need to work on the fact that I don't have to hoard food. My cupboards/freezers are ridiculously full x

Added £1 onto my total yesterday as on Mondays I get the £1 o2 pr1ority lunches from boots. You get a drink, meal and snack so I usually get a normal meal and a smoothie to fill me up in the afternoon.
Over the past few weeks I've been getting a chocolate bar as my snack and I have been stashing these away for my friends' Christmas presents! So I can pretty much call them free as £1 for the other bits isn't bad!0 -
£18.94 for this weeks farm shop - shouldn't need anything else until next week!
I'm going to start keeping a running total of YS and freezer buys that wouldn't be normally part of my actual spend for the month - e.g. I've spent over £30 on meat which has taken a chunk out of my monthly budget. I know it will get pulled back later in the year - but when I'm wondering where the money has gone - I can track how much of it is banked in the freezer. I was spending as much on the store cupboard as I was putting fresh food 'on the plate' before I tackled my sleepwalking hoarder ways (and almost always ignoring that spend altogether).2022 | Back to the fold - need a Money Saving mojo reboot!
Grocery Challenge JAN 2022 £200/£185.00 left!0 -
I spent £3.50 on some veggie mince, pepper and candles - have updated my sig and will also have spends tonight and tomorrow, as I will probably get some bits in Lidl as I pass tonight and get my free from cheese spread and salad cream from Tesc. Gonna have a go at making wraps in the next few days. Really trying to use up what I have, lots of sorry looking veg, I will make soup with them.0

I like this idea of keeping a running total of whats been banked and will pinch it if you don't mind. Am thinking I will clear a drawer in the freezer and label it January, then stash any YS bargains in there.Slimming World at target0 -

Feeling a bit off colour, head cold, but had to go out to do a bit of shopping because I had to shop for the church soup lunch of tomorrow. I don't count that in the groceries as I count only the £5 that DH and I would have donated, as an expense. The rest is like a donation, goes to another category.
But while out I realised that yesterday I missed a few bits so spent an extra £8, which I am going to add to my sig. Also not helpful to shop with DH (DH: "Why don't we have frozen broad beans instead of frozen peas?" Me: "Because they are almost double the price!" but I got a bag for him anyway, not such a big deal). Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Doing ok so far this month. Shops so far:
1st - Tesco - £44.18
2nd - Lidl - £35.45
3rd - Sainsburys - £8.70
3rd - Tesco - £51.67 (last online food shop delivery - have now cancelled)
4th - NSD
5th - NSD
6th - Lidl - £17.97
6th - Sainsburys - £7.94
7th - NSD
8th - One Stop - £1.00
So total spend so far : £166.91/£400 (£233.09 remaining) and 3 NSD's.
Tonights dinner is lamb stew and braised red cabbage. I know I will need milk tomorrow, but now shopping on a day by day basis and only buying exactly what I need and nothing more. Todays spend was on bananas. By shopping this way I am hoping that over the month I will be able to greatly reduce the amount of 'stock' I have in my fridge/freezer and cupboards and make way for a few xmas bits.November NSD's - 70
