     Any thoughts?
If you sold it, how much of your mortgage could it clear - just an idea as you lose the risk of it being stolen, and will be closer to mortgage freedom!

Last week was 18 years since I took out my first mortgage, I would originally have been MF in Feb 2030 but it is currently Sep 2039. I did some calculations (which I probably need to check) but I *think* I need to save or OP £500 a month and I will be MF in the original timeframe. I am saving more than that so think this might be possible without too much of a change in plans. I am going to check this again and see, ideally I would like to be rid of it a year before for my 50th but figure I will have enough in savings to clear whatever is left at that point.

just catching up. What did you decide about the engagement ring?    Is there anything you could do with it to make it a wearable joy rather than a memento of a past?   My mother had her wedding ring and engagement ring re made into one ring which I now have and is beautiful. It now looks like a really modern diamond ring (which I probably should insure)
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

I didn't decide anything, story of my life! Your post has made me wonder though. I have a friend who is a jeweller, I am going to ask her opinion. Thank you x

Have a look at remodelling and upcycling jewellery on insta or just google for some inspiration and if you have other bits you haven't worn you could maybe incorporate that into something.     Maybe it could become a statement piece for your new life.

I've a sentimental wedding ring from a  family member that at some point I will ask a jeweller to use the gold to make a ring that does not look like a wedding ring but I would know what it was.   Before posting here I did a web search and I've some old silver rings with stones from India in.  I'm thinking I will have the stones taken out and used in the gold ring so it combines sentimentality with a part of my life that is now gone if that makes sense.     I'm glad we had this chat because the silver rings now longer fit and I was going to drop off at a charity shop but I have now decided what to do with them!

I am really lacking enthusiasm for doing anything. I had to force myself to the supermarket this morning because I didn't have any food. I am off and at home until Tuesday next week so trying to alternate a day doing things around the house/garden with a day trip out somewhere. It all seems very quiet doing everything on my own though. I am trying to get comfortable with my own company but it appears I really am not.

The way I am trying to get through my day is:
    1) something I need to do - shopping so this is done
    2) something I should do - put washing from last week's holiday and my case away
    3) something I would like to do - I haven't got a clue about this one.

While I am working away I don't get much time at home so kind of want to be here but equally don't want to waste my time off.

sometimes the single lark is hard. I know you left your partner a while back but from memory you still spent time with him for a while.

I'm making my "would like to do" simple    read or cuddle a teddy bear!

Yes, we spent quite a lot of time together, especially during lockdown. It has got easier but we were together for a long time and there are still things I come up against where I don't have my own way of dealing with things and doubt my ability to try!
