Car hire - need DVLA code?

Options
Confused about whether need to get a code from DVLA ahead of picking up a hire car tomorrow.

I thought I would be belt and braces and get one anyway- but DVLA webiste says it can't match my details (don't know why as licence is valid and NI bnumber correct etc).

Any advice welcome

    I'll make some assumptions here-
You have a proper green licence, not a new fangled photocard one, and according to DVLA you don't exist?

You are worried because government spin would have you believe that every driving licence in the country was put online by last May?

Mine is the same, I contacted the DVLA and got this reply
I am sorry to hear that you have been unable to view your driver record using our online service.

Unfortunately, not all records are available as of yet. However, if you require specific information from your driving licence record, please respond to us using our reply form below or contact our Enquiry Unit.

As to whether you need a code, I don't know.

The solution would appear to be to apply for a new licence, but I believe this costs money, unless you change your address, and you have to keep renewing it.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

I have this problem with my code, it also wasn't recognised when I tried to change the address on mine online.

I phoned and complained, I was sent a new card free of charge after giving the other necessary details.

On mine it was the issue number that was the problem.

Just ring them, they will likely give you a code over the phone.
