Rather than your constant smart meters are wonderful followed now by this Freetime tariff could save hundreds, why can't you simply accept the facts.
The quote states 11% of your weekly usage which works out at 6.5kWh for average consumption figures NOT 11kWh.
Do you really believe that you could abuse this tariff from the outset by using double the kWh during your free eight hours and still get it free.
You contradict yourself because as you say, if Budget Energy can offer far more competitive rates by using smart meters then why this rip off tariff from BG selling the same electricity.
You may be Mr Smart and work for BG but I really don't understand how you can defend this tariff, which is a joke for anyone actually trying to save money.
Lets hope that the people who do sign up to this tariff can read and understand the terms that they agree to.
:rotfl:
I m not defending their Freetime tariff at all, its not brilliant, its around the BG standard/variable rates which 50% of BG customers are on now anyway and it is a rip -off tariff as you say.Why over 50% of users choose to pay the highest tariffs is beyond me.
Personally I m paying the cheapest electric rate in the UK at 7.9 p a kwh ( with Sainsburys/British gas of course ) but it would be standard/variable customers who would most likely be interested in the free 8 hours, they are the ones who are too stubborn to go on a fixed direct debit deal or they are the ones lumbered with prepays and can t get off them. Ofgem have declared they intend to help prepays get access to lower than standard tariffs and a Freetime tariff would be a good start.
I fully expect anyone signing up for it will try and use the free 8 hours to the max and not sit back watching telly all Saturday missing the free hours. There is not much point otherwise.
Everyone will end up with a smart meter eventually .The Government will allow it to be mandatory, probably on the basis of one reading a month being automatically read .It was only a few stupid liberal politicians who gave us the right to refuse them .But if smart prepays lower the highest tariffs, which is what has happened in N.I. then they are worth having. The only thing holding prepay rates at the high levels they are now are the appalling old meters which have a lot of expensive upkeep, and a profit to a corner shop as well and they are very easy to fiddle !0
