For anyone interested in a subscription to Investors Chronicle there was a good offer on a leaflet in this week's magazine.
"Enjoy 12 weeks of print + digital access to Investors Chronicle for only £12." The leaflet requires you to either visit www.investorschronicle.co.uk/C1607A or to phone 0333 222 0927 quoting "C1607A". I tried the web address but got a 404 and had to phone to get it. (They got a 404 when they tried the link too.) Offer expires 30/09/2016. After 12 weeks the subscription rises to the normal web rate of £41.25 per quarter unless you cancel the DD. You get 12 magazines, full access to the website, and a phone app.
I don't know if they've had the same offer before but if so I haven't been awake to spot it. Seems pretty good, haven't bought it for years but must be worth a quid an issue,

I'm pretty sure they do this "offer" all year round, nothing special.."If you aren’t willing to own a stock for ten years, don’t even think about owning it for ten minutes” Warren Buffett

Except the Investors Chronicle is sh*te. If they recommend something, watch it tank. Their Simon Thomson recommended both Naibu Global and CamKids on mutliple occasions and both turned out to be AIM frauds; he didn't even check the companies actually existed!0 -

If anyone is looking for an all-knowing tip-sheet then they're going to be disappointed whether it's a magazine like the Investors Chronicle, an expensive traditional specialist tip-sheet, the Daily Mail, Motley Fool or whatever. They're all likely to be written by journos who can earn more doing that than they they can as full-time investors. Any seasoned investor will also well understand that once any share is widely tipped then the price is going to be less of a bargain than it was before so should be treated with scepticism.
So expect to do your own research, giving special attention to the "random walk" nature of equities, and take on board that expecting a magazine to provide more than interesting commentary is a little naive.
It's just a magazine, just a pound a time with the offer, with possibly more sensible comment than some, that some people might find worth a read and possibly useful and that's all - so be realistic.0 -
Perfect for putting on the coffee table at the dentist along with Country Life.0

I currently subscribe to IC. The most useful part to me is the Company Results section where one can often find profitable small companies with good dividends. Without it I would be very unlikely to have picked up on Chesnara which on its own has easily paid for all the ICs I have ever bought. Most of the rest can be quickly skimmed. The Tips of course should be ignored, on the other hand the reviews of people's portfolios may be of some interest.0

I often wonder if the contributors take their own advice? It would be interesting if they could publish their own investments, pensions and so on.
