Personally I would steer towards a Ford Fiesta.0

We had an auto Corsa for a week as a courtesy car. I think it must rank as the worst car I have ever driven. Worse even than my Marina.0

We have a skoda fabia 3 2010 1.6 auto 35,000 miles on the clock paid £4,000 for it, it has the old style auto gearbox setup ie torque convertor (not dsg) getting around 35mpg all city driving See link below as an example:

They come with a decent level of kit as standerd hope this helps“People are caught up in an egotistic artificial rat race to display a false image to society. I love my Aygo - just keeps chugging along, using so little fuel it's almost embarrassing. I do only drive a total of 3000 per annum, mostly trips of 10 miles or so with a one hour motorway trip once a week, and although I wouldn't attempt too much outside lane overtaking, it's probably capable of rather more than I ask of it.
The occasional passenger says it's comfortable and I don't have any problems but then my journeys are short.
I do find it a little underpowered when pulling away quickly to get round a roundabout etc. and tend to hang back for slightly longer gaps in the traffic - certainly can't compete with BMWs!
One thing I do like is that although short (5'1") I am still sitting quite high in the car - certainly not peering through the steering wheel. A six-footer might have problems in the headroom department.
Visibility is good, I can park in the tiniest of spaces. Oh, and I can park in my tiny garage whereas all my nighbours have their fancy big cars parked on their driveways.
Not a car for long distances, mainly motorway driving, but certainly a lovely little town car.0 -

IIRC it was a 2014 model (old shape).
The car was OK apart from the engine and gearbox. Every time it changed up, the revs would die away and the car slowed by about 5mph. It made overtaking rather exciting.0 -
I used to drive an old Mercedes Ambulance that used to surprise you by changing up a gear mid-corner! That was always fun.
FWIW Toyota Aygo, Peugeot 107/108 & Citroen C1 are pretty much the same car, though the engines will be different.
I'd go for a nearly new Ford Fiesta. Loads about so plenty to choose from.0 -
The Fiesta is a good all-round car. Which magazine always finds that Japanese cars top all surveys for reliability. The Honda Jazz and Yaris' have been very highly rated.0

I have an 07 corsa automatic, just passed MOT, no problems, minimal running costs, easy to drive. I got it because my friend had an even older corsa (though that was a manual) and basically ran it till it died. One of the best cars I have had.0

What about the VW Up!/Skoda citigo/Seat Mii, all virtually the same car but with different trims/prices. The auto is an ASG, automated sequential gears, so kinda is a manual but the computer deals with what gear to be in and the clutch, you also have the option to select which gear you want, handy for engine braking and overtakes etc.
Some people don't like the asg, and it does take a little while to get used to, however can give great mpg, in fact I think the 'book' figures give more mpg to the asg vs the manual, (or was that 0-60, its one of the two).0 -

Yes, they are great cars we are going to look at the new shape next year ill will go for a 1.2 tsi dsg model there is some good lease deals around on them
I have driven a corsa in the past not a bad car in manual but in auto i hear its sluggish.“People are caught up in an egotistic artificial rat race to display a false image to society.
