Just returned from somebody who was cold-called and sold Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium for, wait for it, $500. Gulp.
If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.

Jesus !!
Sligtly moot point, but did they actually get what they (vastly over)paid for ??
Or some malware laden rubbish ?0 -
As far as I could make out it was the standard Malwarebytes product. The high price was "explained" as a lifetime license but I don't think MWB does that any more. May have been a hacked version though - the "number of days remaining" appeared to be derived from a random number generator!

Most of these scammers (Microsoft support etc) use UK numbers ..
They are just skype rented numbers that they patch to.
The more devious ones even choose ones with area code close to the victims they are dialing
in the hope they are more likely to pick up the phone0 -
I would have thought being asked to pay in USD should have been a huge red flag!0
-
Anybody cold calling you trying to sell you software should be a huge red flag anyway !!0
-
Yes, and before somebody asks...
why did he pick the phone up?
why did he talk to them?
why did he allow them to remotely connect to his computer?
why did he allow them to take $500 over his credit card
etc etc
Some people just get into a blind alley and just cannot get out of it.If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0 -
Has he been on to his credit card provider to ask for a Chargeback? He might need to report it through Action Fraud first.0

Surprise, surprise. :rotfl:
First time poster sticking up for a company that's undoubtedly a SCAM ( complete with dodgy English).
And one more time to try and get it up the google rankings:-
wetechconsultants.com 08000513909 SCAM
I'm 100% certain MWB isn't $500 (which is, I guess, around £450).:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:
